Members of the Bon Accord Rotary Club have planned a historic cycle to raise funds for Streetsport, the Denis Law Legacy Trust’s flagship programme.

After a year like no other, the Denis Law Legacy Trust was hugely enthused to be offered the opportunity to take part in a virtual exchange to increase engagement and collaboration with participants and young volunteers across the globe.

At the beginning of 2020 we introduced Aidan and Megan to the team, two 3rd year Applied Sport and Exercise Science students at RGU, for a period of 6 weeks which tied in with their placement opportunity module.

A new Streetsport session which is run in partnership with a mixed martial arts gym in Torry is proving to be a great success for local youngsters.

As of close of play Thursday 19th March, all Streetsport sessions and events will be halted until further notice. This is in response to more stringent measures being put in place by the UK Government in relation to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the Denis Law Legacy Trust, has received an honorary degree from Robert Gordon University. Having joined the RGU staff in 2010, Mark was appointed DLLT COO in 2014 and has helped the trust and in particular its flagship programme, Streetsport, grow exponentially in the years since.

To help celebrate and promote the work of the CashBack for Communities Youth Work Fund, Jamie (a three feet high yellow unicorn!) embarked upon a 2,000 mile roundtrip of Scotland.

Streetsport recently partnered up with a global oil and gas company to provide some lucky youth participants with a unique SPARK opportunity.

Each quarter of the year Streetsport arrange a day where volunteers and staff come together to loosen up, socialise and enjoy each other’s company through both educational and fun activities.

William’s a familiar face at Streetsport sessions. Having grown up in the community of Northfield in the north-west of Aberdeen, he began participating at Streetsport sessions in the area when he was 12.

Staff from Scottish Enterprise in Aberdeen have donated hundreds of bottles of water and cereal bars to Streetsport, Denis Law Legacy Trust’s flagship programme.
