Iconic Aberdeenshire castles set scene for fundraising cycle

Members of the Bon Accord Rotary Club have planned a historic cycle to raise funds for Streetsport, the Denis Law Legacy Trust’s flagship programme.

A team of 10 will commit to a day of biking next month as they look to take in some of the most iconic and historic monuments across Aberdeenshire in a 60+ mile route.

The grueling adventure will incorporate Drum Castle, Cullerlie Stone Circle, Dunecht House, Castle Fraser, Craigievar Castle, Peel Ring of Lumphanan and Crathes Castle - totaling a 3,000ft climb which is the equivalent to climbing a munro!

All of the money raised will go directly towards Streetsport sessions, helping to ensure that they are well-facilitated with staff, volunteers and sport equipment for the young people that attend.

Taking place on September 11, the riders will be keeping their fingers crossed for good weather as they cycle round some of the most idyllic spots in the North East.

Mark Williams, Denis Law Legacy Trust Chief Operating Officer, said: “We’re delighted that the Bon Accord Rotary Club has decided to cycle for Streetsport next month. They have been great partners for us down the years and we’re hugely thankful for their support.

“Given the past 18-months especially, fundraising for charities like ourselves is crucial to the successful continuation of programmes such as Streetsport which have become so important to young people across communities in Aberdeen.”
