Denis Law Legacy Games

This year marks an exciting new chapter for the Trust with the introduction of the Denis Law Legacy Games, replacing the Denis Law Community Festival, which successfully ran for 15 years, building on the history of the Aberdeen International Football Festival, first established in 1981. The new format pays tribute to the legendary Denis Law following his passing in early 2025, continuing his legacy of inspiring communities through sport. Each year we will host a series of sporting events encouraging fun and engaging activities for all.

The Denis Law Legacy Games kicked off on Friday 10th July with Play Your Way hosted at Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV). This is a brand-new inclusive sports day delivered in partnership between the Denis Law Legacy Trust and fellow Aberdeen-based charity, We Too!.

Sport di Strada followed with an epic evening of friendly, yet competitive football matches, with over 100 young people representing 17 teams from our Streetsport sessions across Aberdeen all hoping to be crowned champions, taking home the Streetsport Cup. This year was the biggest one yet, held at ASV and kindly funded by 2026 Summer of Sport. Thanks to the generous support of Central Coaches, all the young people were able to travel to and from ASV

The Denis Law Legacy Games provides as many young people as possible with the opportunity to participate in football and other sporting activities. Like all Streetsport activity, it is entirely free for young people to participate in.
