Biggest and Best Yet: Sport di Strada 2026 Delivers an Unforgettable Evening of Football

The annual Sport di Strada tournament returned to Aberdeen Sports Village as part of the Denis Law Legacy Games 2026, and this year’s event proved to be the biggest and best yet!

More than 100 young people, representing 17 teams from Streetsport sessions across Aberdeen, came together for an evening of competitive football, teamwork and community spirit, all hoping to be crowned champions, taking home the Streetsport Cup!

For the first time, the tournament featured three age group categories, giving more young people the opportunity to compete against teams of a similar age. The categories ranged from Youngers (P7-S1), Middle (S2-S4) and Olders (S4+), with teams competing in five-a-side matches, supported by up to two subs.

After an exciting evening of football, the finalists battled it out for top honours:

Youngers Final

Bucksburn 1-0 Tilly

A closely contested game saw Bucksburn emerge victorious, claiming the Youngers title with a narrow 1-0 win.

Middle Final

Northfield 1-0 ADP

The Middle category final was a great showcase of the talent on display throughout the evening, with Northfield securing a 1-0 victory over ADP to lift the trophy.

Older Final

Northfield 5-2 Gs' Mobiles

The Older category final produced plenty of goals, with Northfield putting in an impressive performance to secure a 5-2 win and reclaim the title after previous tournament success.

Joining us for the tournament was Aberdeen FC legend and former Scotland captain Willie Miller. Following the finals, Willie presented the trophies to the winning teams and spent time meeting participants, helping to round off a fantastic evening of football. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Willie for taking the time to help us celebrate the achievements of all the young people who took part.

A huge thank you to everyone who competed, especially team captains who worked hard to get teams together to represent their local Streetsport sessions. Well done everyone!

By providing free transport for all participating teams, Central Coaches helped remove a significant barrier to participation and ensured young people from across the city could take part.
