The idea for the Denis Law Legacy Trail began as a community-driven concept developed through local engagement and creative workshops, led by the Denis Law Legacy Trust.
The aim was to celebrate the life and achievements of one of Aberdeen’s most iconic figures while creating a lasting, positive impact in the area where he grew up.
Early development involved contributions from students and alumni at Gray’s School of Art, including Derek McKechnie, a Communication Design graduate whose initial concept helped shape the vision and narrative for the trail.
-
Fine Day Studio, an Aberdeen-based creative agency, was commissioned to design and deliver the Denis Law Legacy Trail, following a competitive selection process led by Aberdeen City Council, The Denis Law Legacy Trust, the Law family and Printfield community in August 2024. Outdoor artworks and installations were designed to celebrate Denis’s life and to inspire visitors and the local community. The project was delivered in May 2025.
Funding for the trail was provided by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Aberdeen City Council’s Common Good Fund.
-
