Welcome to our Queens Group Page!
The Queens Group is one of our programmes, created alongside Streetsport staff and a group of local young girls who regularly attend our sessions. What started as a simple conversation about creating more opportunities for themselves and others has grown into a close-knit and inspiring group that is making a real difference within their community.
The group provides a space for young people to share their ideas, build confidence, develop new skills, and have a voice in shaping the future of Streetsport. Through their involvement, members play an active role in planning activities, supporting their peers, and creating positive experiences for others.
At its heart, the Queens Group is about empowering young people, building lasting relationships, and helping the next generation grow into confident, positive role models who can make a meaningful impact in their communities.
The group began in March 2025, as a Whatsapp group with 4 members. The group has now grown to 7 girls from Cove, Kincorth, Torry aged between 14-16 years, all meeting monthly with support from our Streetsport staff.
Since its creation, the Queens Group has made a significant impact through its leadership, creativity, and commitment to their community. As of September 2026, the group has planned and delivered four events, engaging 205 young people, and led 10 creative activities that have reached a further 348 participants. Their development has also been reflected in their growing contribution as volunteers, with more than 90% of members now actively volunteering and collectively contributing over 420 hours of their time to support Streetsport activities and community initiatives.
The story so far…
Since launching in March 2025, the Queens Group has gone from strength to strength. In April, the group held its first official meeting, chose the name "Queens", and began sharing ideas for activities and sessions they could help lead. They also represented the voices of young people at a consultation with ETZ and took part in their first themed Easter session.
Over the following months, the group became involved in a range of creative activities before taking on their first major project in September. Working alongside Outlines Creative, the girls helped design and create a mural for a community container, learning spray-painting techniques and completing the installation over three days.
As their confidence grew, so did their ambition. In October, they successfully secured funding to deliver a Spooky UV Silent Disco, extending the event beyond their local area and making it a huge success. Building on this momentum, they continued to introduce new creative activities and opportunities for their peers throughout the autumn.
The year concluded with a packed programme of festive events, including a Christmas Grotto, Christmas photobooth, social media content, craft activities, and the distribution of Christmas crackers kindly donated by a parent from the Torry community.
Today, the Queens Group continues to create positive opportunities for young people through events, activities, and volunteering. To date, the group has planned and delivered four events, engaging 205 young people, and led 10 creative activities reaching a further 348 participants. Over 90% of members are now active young volunteers, collectively contributing more than 420 hours of volunteering. The impact of the programme can also be seen in the achievements of its members, with one young person now representing their peers as a member of the Granite City Speaks Youth Forum.
