Local Support, Lasting Impact: Shipping Container Transformed for Youth activities

Earlier this year, Greenwell, made a generous donation to the Denis Law Legacy Trust by providing a secure shipping container. This valuable contribution will serve as a dedicated storage unit, supporting the Trust’s expanding programme of activities for young people in the Torry area.

Hunter Construction also generously contributed their time and expertise by completing the groundworks for the container’s base and cladding its exterior, preparing for it to be decorated by the local young people from the community.

Scott Brown, Sales Director at Greenwell said: "We are proud to support the Denis Law Legacy Trust and the incredible work they do not only in the Torry area but across the city. Hopefully this container will allow the team to deliver equipment where it's needed and keep their programs running smoothly."

With the container securely placed and fully cladded, the project moved into its final phase: designing the exterior. Outlines Creative led a youth consultation during our last community day, gathering ideas from local young people about how they envisioned the container’s appearance. Based on their input, Outlines returned with a series of vibrant mock-up designs and collaborated with a young girls group, who have been actively involved with the Denis Law Legacy Trust, to help bring those designs to life alongside the artists.

After a thorough briefing and hands-on workshop, the group rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Over the course of two afternoons, they executed their designs with enthusiasm and skill, delivering an outstanding final result. Kirsty Lawie, Outlines Creative, shared her thoughts on the experience:

“Working with the DLLT team and the Torry 'Queens' girls group was a dream! They were super engaged and contributed a lot to the project. We were impressed by their design ideas and adaptability, learning so many new skills and thinking on the spot. All the girls grew through the project and we could see their confidence build which was really nice. We love working with DLLT because of the trust they instil in their young people. We are really proud of this project and we hope they are too.”

This project was made possible thanks to the generous funding and delivery support received through ETZ’s Community & Coast Programme. The Denis Law Legacy Trust extends its deepest gratitude to all the local businesses who contributed their time, resources, and goodwill, your support has been invaluable. Together, a space has been created that will enrich the lives of young people in Torry and expand the opportunities offered by the Denis Law Legacy Trust.

Aimee Culley, Streetsport Operations Co-ordinator had this to say about the project: “Working with ETZ, Greenwell, Hunter Construction and Outlines Creative has been a wonderful experience. Their generous donations and ongoing support will now enable us to provide an extensive range of activities for the young people in the Torry area for years to come.”
