Bloomin’ Bubbly: A Blooming Success for Denis Law Legacy Trust’s First Ladies Day
DLLT staff and volunteers who helped organise the day
Denis Law Legacy Trust was thrilled to host its first-ever Ladies Day – Bloomin’ Bubbly – a vibrant afternoon of celebration, connection, and community spirit, all in support of our mission to empower young people across Aberdeen.
Held at the beautiful Park Café Hazlehead, the event brought together an inspiring group of women for a day filled with laughter, fundraising, and floral fun. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with positivity and purpose.
Why Bloomin’ Bubbly?
Our vision for this event was simple: to broaden our network, raise awareness of our work, and celebrate the incredible women who support our cause. As a charity committed to creating safer, healthier communities through free-to-access sport, physical activity, and creative programming, we’ve made it a priority to increase female participation across all our initiatives.
Many girls and young women face barriers to engaging in sport and extracurricular activities during their teenage years. Through programmes like Streetsport, Club 10, and Denis Law’s Academy, we’re working to change that — and events like Bloomin’ Bubbly help us get there.
An Afternoon to Remember
The day kicked off with a floral twist on a classic game — Petals & Stems, our take on Heads or Tails — with a fabulous £50 Eden Creative Florists voucher up for grabs. Guests enthusiastically joined in, with donations supporting our ongoing work in the community.
We were honoured to be joined by John from JD Music, who provided fantastic entertainment throughout the afternoon, adding to the joyful energy in the room.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Sponsor table, Aramark
We’re incredibly grateful to our event sponsor, Aramark, whose support helped make this day possible. Michelle Handforth, Managing Director at Aramark UK & Global Energy, said: “Aramark was proud to be the main sponsor for Denis Law Legacy Trust’s inaugural ladies’ day afternoon tea event.
“It was a wonderful afternoon that celebrated community spirit, empowerment, and the positive impact of the charitable trust’s work across the northeast.
“Our sponsorship of the event will enable Denis Law Legacy Trust to continue making a real difference in the local community, and we are delighted to have contributed to the success of such an inspiring event.”
Huge thanks also go to Rachel of Eventures By Rachel for our stunning welcome sign, and to Pat and the team at the Park Café Hazlehead for their warm hospitality.
A special shoutout goes to our amazing team of volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and throughout the event to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Looking Ahead
Bloomin’ Bubbly was more than just a fun afternoon — it was a celebration of community, empowerment, and the impact of women coming together for a cause. We’re already looking forward to making this an annual tradition!
Attendee, Gillian Mcleod, said: “We had such a lovely time … my daughters really loved musical bingo and others commented on how well organised the event was. Regardless of age, everyone looked to be having fun.”
We’ll soon be sharing an exciting update on what our girl’s group, Queens, has been working on for their peers this October. We can’t wait to show you what they've planned - stay tuned to see their ideas and hard work brought to life
