Denis Law’s Academy: Celebrating a Successful First Year

Since its launch in May 2024, the Denis Law’s Academy has emerged as a hub of opportunity and empowerment for young people across Aberdeen. Developed by the Denis Law Legacy Trust in partnership with Robert Gordon University and supported by The Wood Foundation, the Academy has delivered a year of meaningful impact through personal development, professional growth, and wellbeing support.

The Academy was co-designed in collaboration with young people to ensure it genuinely reflects their needs, aspirations, and lived experiences. Its core mission is to break down barriers to positive destinations, foster self-confidence, and provide participants with the skills and support they need to thrive—not only during their time in the programme, but throughout their personal and professional lives.

As the Academy enters its second year, the focus will shift toward expanding its reach, strengthening its support systems, and amplifying the voices of those who have grown through the programme. Key priorities include building new partnerships, introducing additional qualifications, and creating more structured opportunities for alumni to mentor and inspire the next generation of participants.
