Denis’ Legacy:
Denis Law’s football career was marvellous, and his off-field impact is equally remarkable.
Denis Law Legacy Trust
In 2011, the Denis Law Legacy Trust was founded. A charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people. It supports free access to opportunities and positive experiences through sport and creative activities whilst promoting development, inclusivity, health and wellbeing.
Commander of the Order of the British Empire
In 2016, Denis was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to both football and charity.
Freedom of the City
In 2017, he was granted the Freedom of the City of Aberdeen, an honour that reflects his pride in his roots and his lasting impact on local communities.
In addition to the statues at Old Trafford, there are two statues of Denis in Aberdeen, one at the Sports Village and one next to Provost Skenes House, opposite another king—King Robert the Bruce.
A Lasting Legacy
Denis Law died in January 2025 and has left a legacy that is so much more than goals or trophies; it is about the positive change he has brought to people’s lives, both on and off the pitch.
