Global network Common Goal renew Denis Law Legacy Trust membership

Denis Law Legacy Trust has had their membership with a prominent global network renewed once again.

Admitted in recognition of its ‘leading work in the field of football for good’, it means the Trust is one of only two members of Common Goal operating in Scotland and only the sixth in the United Kingdom.

Common Goal, a creation of streetfootballworld, exists to use football for good and has gained significant prominence worldwide due to the players who join and commit to pledge 1% of their earnings to a central fund which is then allocated to high-impact organisations.

Manchester United player Juan Mata sits on the organisation’s steering board while other stars such as Serge Gnabry and Giorgio Chiellini were also early members. Vivianne Miedema and Adama Traore are recent sign-ups while Ianis Hagi of Rangers is a prominent Scottish-based member.

Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer, said: “As a small organisation committed to doing big things, we’re delighted to renew our membership with Common Goal and look forward to working with them more in the months and years to come.

“Our goals are very similar in that we both believe fundamentally in the power of sport and how affective it can be in improving the lives of young people, whether that be locally in Aberdeen or elsewhere around the world”.

George Springborg, Head of Community, Common Goal: “The formation of the Common Goal Community is an important milestone for the football for good sector and towards fulfilling our vision of using the power of football to inspire mass collaboration towards and equitable and sustainable future for all.

“We are delighted that Denis Law Legacy Trust is part of that journey and we are looking forward to all that is to come!”

Denis Law Legacy Trust has already benefited greatly from the network by being part of the Play Proud initiative; partaking in a global virtual exchange; becoming FIFA volunteers; and through sharing and learning best practice from like-minded members.
