Denis Law’s Academy is proud to announce a successful partnership with local company IPS Aberdeen, aimed at introducing young people to the fabrication industry and the exciting career opportunities it offers.
Over the course of two engaging sessions, 15 young participants from across Aberdeen visited IPS’s facility in Dyce for an immersive introduction to the world of fabrication. These taster sessions provided valuable insights into the industry, including potential pathways into apprenticeships and long-term careers.
During their visit, the young attendees experienced a real working environment. The IPS team offered guided tours of the workshop and machinery, and shared insights into the diverse skill sets developed in fabrication—many of which are transferable across various industries. Participants also had the opportunity to speak directly with current apprentices and seasoned professionals, gaining first-hand knowledge of the industry and what a future in fabrication could look like.
Rhys Jones, Community Coordinator at Denis Law’s Academy, reflected on the collaboration:
“We were delighted to partner with IPS Aberdeen. Their values and approach to youth development align perfectly with ours. Together, we share a strong commitment to nurturing the future workforce and creating meaningful opportunities. This partnership has laid a solid foundation, and we’re excited to build on it in the future.”
This initiative marks the first collaboration between Denis Law’s Academy and an employer like IPS, underscoring the Academy’s dedication to helping young people explore diverse career paths. By empowering them with knowledge and confidence, the programme supports informed decision-making and encourages young people to step boldly into the world of work.
