The Speyside Way: Completed it!
Last month we reported that DLLT trustee Alistair Findlater and two of his friends would walk the Speyside Way to raise money for the organisation.
We’re now delighted to follow-up that Alistair, Raymond and Colin successfully marched the iconic trail during a warm week in mid-May.
Starting in Aviemore, the trio walked through Grantown-on-Spey, Ballindalloch, Craigellachie and Fochabers.
70 miles and a bottle of sun-cream later, the trio arrived in Buckie brimming with pride having raised over £2,000.
The grant total on Alistair’s Just Giving page now sits at £2,425.00 with donations still coming in and of course still very welcome!
Speaking about the walk, Alistair said: “Having experienced the River Spey on my holidays over the years we thought it would be good to follow it all the way to the sea.
“It was a great experience and then you get to the last day at Spey Bay, and those views.”
Not content with basking in the success of this fundraising mission, the friends have already thought of their next adventure.
Alistair added: “Next year we’re thinking of doing the Moray Coast. We’ve done Grantown to Buckie but if you imagine up to Forres and down the east coast to Cullen.
“It’s 50 miles so perhaps a day less and a lot flatter!”
As with all who fundraise for the charity, Alistair was presented with a thank-you pack, collated in a new branded tote bag, to recognise his supreme efforts.
Images from their few days in the Highlands can be seen below. From everyone at the Denis law Legacy Trust, thank you for your fantastic achievement Alistair and to all those who helped and donated towards his cause.
